Yverose Placide, M. Ed.

Mrs. Yverose Placide is a recipient of two master degrees, one in Bilingual Education from Banks Street College of Education in New York and the other in Reading and Special Education from the University of Miami, FL. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the City University of New York (CUNY). She also holds an AAS in Early Childhood Education from City College of New York.

Mrs. Pacide’s teaching career began more than forty years ago in Brooklyn, NY where she taught Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She relocated to South Florida in 1988, and joined Miami-Dade County Public Schools. During her tenure with M-DCPS, she occupied numerous roles: Classroom Teacher, Grade Chairperson, Bilingual Assessor, Curriculum Support Specialist, Vocational Coordinator and Program Manager. Throughout her career as a public-school educator, Mrs. Placide has taught children at all levels: Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle and High School. She has also traveled nationally and internationally training and facilitating Best Practice Workshops for teachers under the umbrella of Rubicon International and Atlas.

As faithful Catholics, Mrs. Placide and her husband Patrick visited Ave Maria’s Church in 2015 and on that day decided to move to Ave Maria after retirement… and they did! She is honored to join Rhodora Donahue Academy as a part-time Reading/Math Support Teacher this year. She is also excited to come out of retirement and get the opportunity to assist in instilling a lifelong love of learning in young children, in such a rich Catholic environment. What a blessing!
