Gretna Burger, B.A.


Mrs. Burger holds a Bachelor of Arts from Erskine College in Psychology with a concentration in Special Education. She spent 16 years as an Instructional Designer for Delta Air Lines before deciding to pursue her passion for early childhood education. Her love for teaching and being in the classroom led her to obtain an Early Childhood certificate through the edTPA (Teacher Performance Assessment) from the Georgia Teaching Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP). Mrs. Burger previously taught at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Atlanta, GA, for 5 years. After leaving Georgia in 2021, she obtained an Educator Certificate from the State of Florida Department of Education before joining St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School, where she taught Grade 4. She also holds a Catholic School Teacher catechist certificate from the Diocese of Venice (DOV). Now entering her tenth year in Catholic education, she is excited to join Donahue Academy which has a strong reputation for its commitment to academic excellence that is centered on Jesus Christ. Originally from Miami, FL, Mrs. Burger now resides in Ave Maria, FL, with her husband of 30 years. Outside of teaching, Mrs. Burger loves to travel the globe and her hobbies include reading and gardening.
