supporters take to The fairways at the national golf & country club.
Donahue Academy’s inaugural Shamrock Scramble Golf Outing proved to be a memorable day of fellowship, friendly competition, and generous support for the school’s athletic program. Held on Friday, May 15, at The National Golf & Country Club, the event brought together members of the Donahue community and supporters of Catholic education for a successful day on the course.
The outing began with an opening prayer led by Deacon Gary Ingold, who later went on to win the long drive contest on Hole 14. Throughout the day, participants enjoyed spirited competition and camaraderie while helping raise funds for the Shamrock athletic program. The winning team – comprised of Barrett Elkins, Andrew Nisbet, Scott McCoy, and Christopher Moreno – finished with an impressive score of 18-under par. Reflecting on the event, Mr. Elkins shared, “for the first one, I think it went well — some great scores and good times.”
The tournament was co-chaired by Mr. Elkins alongside the school’s Advancement team comprised of Director Wil Hampton and Assistant Director Jana Patterson. Mr. Hampton emphasized the importance of events that strengthen the school community, noting that many participants were eager to support Donahue Academy’s mission and growing athletic program.
The outing also marked the launch of Donahue Academy’s Summer Golf Cart Raffle. An Aaction Power Equipment golf cart was displayed at the course, with only 250 raffle tickets available for purchase throughout the summer. The day concluded with dinner, refreshments, awards, and a raffle at the club’s poolside café. Following the success of its inaugural year, the Shamrock Scramble is expected to return in 2027 as a new Donahue tradition.
