Donahue Academy’s Annual Father-Daughter Dance

The always-anticipated event was another success!

The annual father-daughter dance is a much-anticipated event among the school’s girls. The evening is filled with opportunities for fun, including a staged area with a themed background where local photographer Mr. Michael Sabatino, from Studios of Ave Maria, snaps treasured portraits of fathers with their daughters. The portrait area encapsulates the annual theme, which in years past have included “fairy garden” and “winter wonderland.” This year’s theme was “bows and boots.” Mrs. Elizabeth Lavandera, Event Coordinator, said: “this year’s theme aimed to reflect grace, purity, and the blessing of time shared together in soft hues of lavender, white, and gold.”

Guests – dressed for the occasion in everything from plaid, boots, buckles, and hats to bows and frills – entered a charming western setting complete with real hay bales, glowing mini lights woven through lavender plants, and elegant purple table linens that transformed the gym into a space of warmth and beauty. Beneath the soft lights, boots and bows came together as fathers proudly led their daughters onto the dance floor. “More than music and decorations, the night was a reminder of God’s design for family, with fathers guiding, protecting, and cherishing their daughters as they grow,” added Mrs. Lavandera. She also praised the many families who supported the event with food, drinks, set-up and take-down help.

The Father Daughter Dance is a treasured tradition that reflects a core part the school’s mission: to nurture faith-filled families and community. Laughter filled the room and tender moments were shared that will long be remembered. “It was an absolutely amazing evening! Food, music, decorations, ambiance – everything was so well done. This is definitely an event I cherish with my daughters,” said Mr. Peter Adamic, who attended with Sophora (G4) and Bianka (G6).
