Pulchrum ā Beauty in the Life of the Catholic, Classical Educator
Donahue Academy, in partnership with Ave Maria University, presents its second annual conference. This year’s theme is beauty. All who are interested in beauty in education are encouraged to participate.
This yearās AMICE conference explores questions such as:
How can the Catholic faith in conversation with classical pedagogy shed light on new approaches to beauty and the teaching of beauty?
How can beautiful art, architecture, and icons assist the Catholic, classical educator in calling students to the fullness of Godās reality?
How can the subject of beauty guide pedagogy and management in Catholic schools?
Should we lead with beauty in our schools?

Dr. Janice Chik Breidenbach
Dr. Janice Chik Breidenbach is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Ave Maria University. She holds research affiliations at Oxford as Member of the Aquinas Institute, Blackfriars Hall, Oxford, where she was also a Visiting Research Scholar (in 2017 and 2019), and as Senior Affiliate of the Program for Research on Religion and Urban Civil Society at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on contemporary Aristotelian-Thomistic philosophy of action, metaphysics and science, and political philosophy. She teaches with a historical approach: her courses have included philosophy of science, logic, metaphysics, aesthetics, ethics, philosophy of action and mind, and philosophy of nature.
Daniel McInerney
Daniel McInerny is associate professor and chair of the Philosophy Department at Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia. He is the author of The Difficult Good: A Thomistic Approach to Moral Conflict and Human Happiness (Fordham University Press, 2006), The Good Death of Kate Montclair (Chrism Press, 2023), and Beauty and Imitation: A Philosophical Reflection on the Arts (Word on Fire Academics, 2024).
Jonathan Ciraulo
Jonathan Ciraulo is associate professor of systematic theology at Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C. He received his Ph.D. in systematic theology from the University of Notre Dame in 2018. He previously taught at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology from 2018-2024. His research focuses on sacramental theology, the theology of tradition, and the relationship between philosophy and theology. He is editor of The New Ressourcement.
