parent-school partnership in education

None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can do small things with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.
citizenship formation
Donahue Academy engages in communal activities that not only yield but also reinforce students’ formation in faith, character, intellect, artistic sensibility, physical mastery, and, importantly, citizenship. The school, through its myriad offerings, helps students to recognize their culture-making role as active participants in project groups, musical ensembles, drama casts, sport teams, classrooms, the school… Gradually, these spheres of influence radiate outward to encompass one’s parish, town, and, ultimately, broader society.
HOME and school association (HASA)
The charity, generosity, and kindness of HASA volunteers, consistent with Donahue Academy’s motto to encounter Christ and pursue excellence in all things, is critical to Donahue’s success. HASA volunteers, with the support of HASA leadership, put on a dozen different annual events.
HASA’s mission is threefold:
1
to support events that build and nurture the Catholic community at the heart of the school
2
to involve current and new families in the life of the school by sharing their unique talents and supporting the school’s financial goals beyond tuition
3
to support teachers, staff, and administrators with assistance and acts of love
COMMUNITY AND culture
Donahue Academy’s Community & Culture (C&C) program is designed to:
1)Strengthen the parent-school partnership,
2) Build community among parents, staff, and faculty, and
3) Foster a positive, faithful culture that supports our mission.

C&C NIGHTS
Three times per academic year, parents, staff, and faculty gather over wine and hors d’oeuvres in the school library for a Community and Culture Night. Each night focuses on one of the three foundations of the classical trivium: 1) The Grammar Stage: “Building the Foundation on the Cornerstone,” 2) The Logic Stage: “Habits to Virtue,” and 3) The Rhetoric Stage: “The Road to Freedom.” Each evening includes a student performance and a presentation by a faculty member; a Q&A period follows along with a chance to meet teachers. Families newly enrolled at Donahue Academy are required to attend all three C&C Nights and complimentary, onsite babysitting is provided.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Meet and socialize with other parents for morning coffee or evening wine and cheese at the Donahue Library, hear updates from Fr. David Vidal, Principal Dr. Marc Snyder and Campus Minister Martin Doman, and make suggestions for Donahue Academy’s continued growth and vitality.
