THE HEART OF ATHLETICS

Quote Img

Sports are not merely the exercise of muscles, but it is the school of moral values and of training in courage, in perseverance and in overcoming laziness and carelessness. There is no doubt that these values are of greatest interest for the formation of a personality which considers sports not an end in itself but as a means to total physical, moral and social development.

ST. JOHN PAUL II

The athletics program spans grades 3 to 12. Whereas all grades in the Grammar stage have weekly Physical Education classes, only Grades 3 and 4 take part in extracurricular sports. And while Grade 5 is part of our Grammar Stage, these students take part in the Grammar stage’s athletic program. In the Grammar stage, Cross Country introduces younger students to intramural athletics.

Come out to support our athletes and enjoy the distinctive camaradeship of the Donahue Academy community.

Donahue Academy is tightknit community where everyone pitches in and nowhere is this ethos more evident than in athletics. Whether backtracking from the finish line to encourage a classmate to cross it with all she’s got, operating a concession stand, or simply cheering friends on, our Athletics Clubs make the Donahue Spirit visible.

Da Booster Club

BOOSTER CLUB

Donahue Academy’s Booster Club supports the schools’ 20 teams by selling event tickets and concessions. Parents earn volunteering and students who help set up earn service hours while having great fun during games. Together, their efforts help fund ongoing equipment upgrades, the annual award banquet, and other important projects such as the new team mascot.

Da Shamrocks

student activities

The Student Activities practicum is a yearlong elective for Rhetoric students. Among many academic year celebrations and activities, students in the practicum bring school spirit, friendship, and cheer to Donahue Academy’s sporting events. Students plan themes, create posters, chants, and don spirit wear to games at home and at competitors’ venues. Go Shamrocks!

Da Running Club

RUNNING CLUB

Running is a way of life for many students at Donahue Academy. Our Running Club lets students grow in virtue as they run the race so as to win.
