March for Life 2022
January 16, 2022

Due to Washington D.C. requiring COVID vaccines for all people 12+ and possibly employing the National Guard to enforce this requirement, we have modified our plans for the 2022 March for Life.
On Monday, January 17th, Fr. Vidal and Dcn. Kinnick will lead two buses with approximately 100 Ave Maria teens from Donahue Academy’s Pro-Life Club and Ave Maria’s homeschool community and parish religious education program. The buses will go to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine where Fr. Vidal will concelebrate Mass, assisted by Dcn. Kinnick.
After Mass, the group will have lunch and then tour the 422-year-old Shrine. After the tour, the buses will head to Sarasota where everybody will spend the night at a Pro-Life inn.
On the morning of January 18th, the group will meet with Bishop Dewane and other Pro-Lifers from the Diocese of Venice for Mass at St. Martha’s in Sarasota. The assembled groups will then be joined by the Knights of Columbus and march from St. Martha’s to the Sarasota Planned Parenthood where they will pray and give witness to Life.
They day will end with lunch and our Pro-Life teens should be back in Ave Maria around 3pm. We are very proud of our students and thankful to the Ave Maria Council of the Knights of Columbus for helping offset the cost of the trip.
On Saturday, January 22nd, Bishop Dewane and Pam Stenzel will be here for the Ave Maria March for Life. The event will begin at 10:30am at the AMU Gyrene Stadium. The March itself will be led by the Donahue Academy Pro-Life Club, proudly carrying the banner for the March through the streets of town.
